The young people will earn money, gain new skills that will last them a lifetime, boost their confidence and build their sense of independence and responsibility, as well as have the chance to meet different people in an adult working environment and demonstrate their reliability and commitment to an employer.

The employers stand to gain from FREE staff for the first 3 weeks (when the young people are paid by the project). They can get extra resources during their busiest times and they get committed and motivated young people. The project is also good for company PR/ CSR and enhances company image. It is also an opportunity to develop their existing workforce through mentoring/shadowing schemes.
Employers will be expected to provide a safe and supportive working environment, and to offer the young people some basic retail training and experience of the world of work.

“Previously we had a problem recruiting Sunday staff, but it’s all sorted now. The project is so successful for us, I know the project will provide us with suitable young people who knows the standard we require in our shop. It saves me time and money in recruitment. The young people arrive prepped for work. I have promoted the project to my manager colleagues in Camberwell, Brixton and Catford.”

“I think that it would have been hard to find a job without this project because not a lot of employers are looking to employ 16-year-olds without any experience.”
