In a recent evaluation of Foot in the Door, we found that employers like the project, they value the professional approach of the project staff, trust the Employment Adviser’s judgement on placement selection, see the experience as good value for money, and have had generally a very positive experience of the young people placed with them.
Marks and Spencer commented that “the best thing about the project was observing that some young people develop themselves in a very short time”.

One manager commented that “previously there was a problem with obtaining weekend workers in Peckham; people were not available locally to work on Sundays. The project has filled a gap and now there are always people available to fill places.”

“Previously we had a problem recruiting Sunday staff, but it’s all sorted now. The project is so successful for us, I know the project will provide us with suitable young people who knows the standard we require in our shop. It saves me time and money in recruitment. The young people arrive prepped for work. I have promoted the project to my manager colleagues in Camberwell, Brixton and Catford.”

“You get work experience and still get paid because not all work experience gets paid.”
